 Aliya GCSE Media blog feedback – December 2022

Aliya- you have settled wonderfully well into this Media class. I appreciate it is not easy joining a class slightly later than everyone else but you have slotted in well. You have managed to catch up on most of the previous blog posts which we agreed for you to complete. Just try and catch up on the 2 remaining from the last half-term.

EBI:

Just lacking detail in your blog posts - please use your notebook and the notes on Media Macguffin to really develop your answers so they are more analytical and so that you achieve your target grade in Media. Have a think about how we can best support you with this and we can put a plan together. If we can develop our blog posts with more detail, then you will be achieving higher grades in future Media assessments.

In my opinion the most difficult topic we've covered is audience effects theory . this is because there is a lot to remember. I feel that it is not hard to understand but its a lot of content .

Camera blog tasks. MEDIUM CLOSE UP: This shot is used to show us the actor from their torso upwards. This makes the audience rely on the actor's facial expression to see what emotion they are portraying. CLOSE UP: This makes the audience pick up on a specific emotion by focusing closely on the actors face/facial expression. OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT:   is shows us the actors face in more detail. It helps the audience pick up on a specific This makes us focus on the setting and the actors' surroundings rather than facial expression and body language.  HIGH ANGLE: This angle is used to make the actor look weak and small. It makes the audience think there is a strong threat to the protagonist. MISE-EN-SCENE One aspect of mise-en-scene used in the video is lighting. At the beginning,the lighting is quite dark and monotone this reflects on the fact that nothing of importance is going on in the scene. Mise- en-scene : stranger things analysis

Stranger things analysis  LIGHTING: At the opening of the trailer ,we can see that the lights are flickering and the scene is quite dim. As the lights continue to flicker the shot follows a scared scientist as he makes his way through the laboratory. From this i can see that the flickering lights add an eerie,scary and dangerous vibe to the scene because  we can obviously see that the lights aren't working which adds a sense of uncertainty . The last part of the trailer focuses on the four boys that are in their friends basement playing games. The lights are warm and soft for most of the scene,which gives the audience a feel of safety . In the another shot as the boys are going home the outside lights flicker one more time , this tells me that something dangerous is about to happen.
