The hunger games:catching fire




In the picture , the first thing i can notice is the main protagonist 
( katniss everdeen ) placed at the centre . This emphasises that she is the main character and that the story is centred around her . as she is the main character she has an icon in the form of a badge / pin . it is in the shape of a mocking jay . This is symbolic as the mocking jay represents defiance and rebellion , this links to the hunger games because the inhabitants of the districts and the "tributes" decide to rebel against the capitol . we can see that the pin is engulfed in flames. This could connote violence, war, conflict and bloodshed.


the text at the top relays the message "remember who the enemy is" this makes the audience feel a sense of thrill and excitement to find out what happens next. By adding an enticing message they make the audience intrigued to watch the film.

 

I think one of the main symbols in the poster is the bow and arrow which the main character in the poster is holding and aiming, this symbol helps the set genre as it is obviously going to have some action in the film. It looks as if she is aiming the bow and arrow at us giving a personal sense to the poster and grabbing the attention of the audience more. I think the audience will need some foreknowledge as she is not holding a bow and arrow because she wants to cause trouble for a reason, but it is because she needs to fight for her life, I think the audience may have to watch the trailer to understand the poster more. 


The idea that the arrow is light up gold suggests its importance to the main character as it is obviously a crucial object which helps her in the film; the gold colour helps reinforce this importance. Another main symbol in the poster is the hunger games ‘logo’. It would seem as if the flames are lighting up the whole poster and therefore is important to the film, as it would seem without that flame there would be no light in the poster. The logo is in the centre of the bottom third of the poster, the idea that it is centralised shows its importance. The idea that the logo is on fire suggests the danger of the hunger games and reinforces the idea of action.

This makes the audience rely on the actor's facial expression to see what emotion they are portraying. CLOSE UP: This makes the audience pick up on a specific emotion by focusing closely on the actors face/facial expression. OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT:   is shows us the actors face in more detail. Stranger things analysis  LIGHTING: At the opening of the trailer ,we can see that the lights are flickering and the scene is quite dim. As the lights continue to flicker the shot follows a scared scientist as he makes his way through the laboratory. From this i can see that the flickering lights add an eerie,scary and dangerous vibe to the scene because  we can obviously see that the lights aren't working which adds a sense of uncertainty . The last part of the trailer focuses on the four boys that are in their friends basement playing games. The lights are warm and soft for most of the scene,which gives the audience a feel of safety . In the another shot as the boys are going home the outside lights flicker one more time , this tells me that something dangerous is about to happen.
